This month I had the opportunity to collaborate with @gameday_willowbrook to provide some Resting Metabolic Health Assessments onsite. I had a great time meeting the team and thankful to them for having me out. One way to assess and track progress with the treatment plan is to assess the impact of treatment on your metabolism, mitochondrial health, and fat burning efficiency which an objective Metabolic Health Assessment provides! Ideally we would test at the beginning of treatment and then periodically alongside blood testing to correlate improved blood biomarkers to improved metabolic biomarkers. When committing to a lifestyle or behavioral change, give yourself grace through the process. Don't feel like you have to be 100% perfect because perfection is unattainable. Expecting to be 100% perfect with a new plan or program will cause anxiety or sense of defeat if you "slip up". Go into any situation believing if you stick to the plan at least 80% of the time then the 20% you don't won't be armageddon and the changes you've made won't be impacted by the 20%. Whether it's exercise, nutrition, sleep, stress management, being consistently good beats occasionally perfect and is much more likely to permanently incorporate into your life. Movement Health Rule of Thumb when deciding whether something you feel is injury related or a part of the Recovery Health process. Bottom line is symmetry. If it's symmetrical, think Recovery Health strategies. If it's one side, think injury rehab strategies. You should take it seriously either way but if it's injury related you could be causing long term irreversible damage (for instance, if your injury involves cartilage wear & tear or a tendon degenerating). You get one set of cartilage and one set of tendons to protect in this life. The rest have to be repaired or replaced via surgery. 3D Running Gait Analysis @campus_motion As you can see on the sides of the screen, the 3D camera reads the frontal plane (side to side), the sagital plane (front to back), and the overhead transverse plane (bird's eye view above). Those are the 3 dimensions (3D) that are analyzed to give us the data necessary to develop your plan. They have everything from orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy on the traditional medical side to IV hydration, cryotherapy, hyperbaric oxygen, assisted stretch/mobility on the wellness recovery side to sports performance, performance testing, and athlete training on the performance side. Big thanks to @rayraven3, the orthopedic surgeon spearheading this concept, for coordinating my visit, and to @coachraven004 for giving me the tour and welcoming me to their office.
